Big Win for the Rivercats
My 9 year old Maggie plays catcher for the Needham Rivercats, who are battling their way through the post-season.
Last night the mighty Rivercats had their toughest challenge yet: a tense double-extra innings pitchers’ duel which was perhaps the first time in the history of 9 year old Little League Baseball that neither side walked in a single run. After two extra innings the score remained 0-0.
But in the bottom of the 8th inning Donnie (who also pitched a shut-out) made it to second on a double, and then, with some aggressive base running by Jason (who had a great take-out slide at second) Donnie charged around third and slid safe into home for the winning run. (And kudos to Coach John “Dice-K” Koppellas for sending Donnie!).
(Maggie was 2 for 2).
Go Rivercats!
