The Web as Premium Video Petri Dish

NBC tells the NYT that Jimmy Fallon’s run as the host of Late Night will begin with training wheels on the web, before he goes live on network television.

Seems like it has taken the networks a while to figure this out, but it sure seems pretty commonsensical for premium video programmers to use the web as a minor leagues, or petri dish, to experiment and discover what productions are ready for prime time.

If our dealflow is any indication, expect to see alot more of this…
