A Life Well Lived
The other morning while I was on the elliptical I watched a news excerpt on Walter Cronkite’s funeral. It was described as “a celebration of a life well lived.”
A life well lived — great words to live by.
During my upcoming vacation, in addition to detoxing off alcohol, caffeine, red meat, glutens, twitter and email, I am going to try to give some thought to just what makes a life a well lived life.

I think a life well lived has elements of the following:
* Being kind to others
* Maximizing the opportunities put before you
* Constantly challenging yourself (physically and mentally)
I always says of LIFE
” A new day; a gift from God”
but this Sanskrit poem says it more eloquently
The Salutation to the Dawn,
Look to this day for it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the varieties and realities of our existence,
the bliss of growth, the story of action, the splendor of beauty.
For yesterday is already a dream and tomorrow is only a vision,
But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
and every tomorrow’s vision a hope.
Look well, therefore, to this Day. Such is the salutation to the dawn….
