Michael Arrington posted the other day that, because its parent company owns Reddit, Wired is deliberately setting out to trash Digg.
I am not a journalist, and have never been one (thank God). But I know lots of them, and lots of executives in media businesses as well. And based on what I’ve ever seen or heard, Arrington’s imagining that Wired’s editors actually give a hoot about their parent company’s portfolio strikes me as more than a little farfetched.
Now, that is not to say that there isn’t a disclosure issue here, which I think there certainly is.
