The New Viral Distribution Thing

June 13, 2007

Venturebeat has a good interview with the CEO of the red-hot widget company Rock You, who explains how viral distribution on Facebook differs from other social networks:

“The viral loop of people inviting each other to most social networks revolves around a user posting a widget to their page and having friends see their page.

The viral loops for Facebook (there are multiple) revolve around the news feed, the mini-feed and the invite request. Not around people coming to your page and interacting with it”

Meanwhile on the Widget front, TechCrunch covers Clearspring’s opening up its platform to the broad swath of web developers.

I continue to find that the whole notion of web distribution is exploding.
