Polaris Goes Plinky

Last week GigaOm scooped me on my own story!

Although Om posted on this a week ago, we actually only closed on our seed investment with former Googler Jason Shellen (and his cofounder, Polaris’s own Sim Simeonov) and his “Plinky” project today.

Jason is still in the very early days of the project, and does not yet have a whole lot to disclose publicly about what he is doing.

From my perspective, what excites me is that I think Jason is aiming at something potentially quite powerful and valuable. His central thesis is that there is a way to make the content creation process better and easier for all the users out there who are interested in participating in the social web, but in the process to make their output more valuable to others, whether the others be brands or consumers of information.

Oh, and I forgot to mention another key consideration for us: based on his experience at Google and before that at Blogger, Jason is as qualified as anyone on the planet to tackle this problem.

Stay tuned, hopefully you’ll hear lots more from Plinky in the not-too-distant-future!
