Danny Hillas and Freebase

John Markoff just wrote about Danny Hillas and his new search company called Freebase.

As far as I can tell, Hillas’s idea is apply Artificial Intelligence principles to web content / metadata to make search more intelligent. What I don’t understand is how Hillas expects the web’s content to get classified/tagged…

But I just read Tim O’Reilly’s post, and now I understand. This actually is more a mix of artificial intelligence, search and wikepedia. Freebase creates data structures that will make for more intelligent search, sucks in data from the web, and then allows readers to update information within these search friendly structures.

Sounds pretty cool, certainly worth watching.
